The results of their research over the past 10 years have been groundbreaking and have led to various scientific awards. Today it has been taken over by the government, and local residents and the government are working together to protect it by recording the number of times sea turtles have come ashore and collecting information on sea turtles in cooperation with local fishermen based at the Hiwasa Chelonian Museum Caretta.
